Five arrested in Manitowoc heroin bust

MANITOWOC (WLUK) -- Five people are behind bars for allegedly selling heroin from Rockford, Illinois to Manitowoc County.

A 47-year-old woman and four men, ages 48, 50, 58 and 59, were arrested in Manitowoc.

Officials say investigators conducted multiple controlled purchases of heroin during a four-month period from the suspects.

On Wednesday, investigators arranged to purchase $2,500 worth of heroin in Manitowoc. A 58-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were arrested following a short chase on S. 21st Street. Investigators say they also found more heroin and cocaine inside the suspects' vehicle.

A search warrant was conducted at a residence on Ray Street in Manitowoc. A 50-year-old man was taken into custody. He had meth in his possession, officials say.

The second search warrant was conducted on South 21st Street. A 59-year-old man was arrested on heroin conspiracy distribution charges. A 48-year-old woman was also arrested at this residence for a probation violation.

Investigators say the 58-year-old man in custody is responsible for $135,000-$200,000 of heroin sales in Manitowoc County over the course of one year.

Officials say additional arrests are expected.
