Appleton Coated to call back 50 workers
COMBINED LOCKS (WLUK) -- The Appleton Coated paper mill is restarting one of its machines, according to Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson's office.
As part of the restart, 50 workers will be called back, Nelson's office says.
"While we are not out of the woods, this is a big step forward," Nelson said in a statement.
The mill was sold in October to California-based Industrial Assets. At the time, the company said it planned to resume limited operations at the mill while working to find another company to buy the mill and operate it into the future.
More than 600 people worked at the mill before layoffs were announced in September.
