Deputies: Fight over girl led to shooting in Allouez
ALLOUEZ, Wis. (WLUK) -- A dispute over a girl led a teen to shoot another teen in the neck, sheriff's deputies say.
Sabrina Peterson lives a block away from where shots rang out Monday night. She says was startled when she heard a loud noise.
"I was folding clothes, then we heard a popping noise, and I knew what it was," she said.
The Brown Co. Sheriff's Office says it was called to the 2200 block of Libal Street in Allouez just before 11 p.m. Monday.
"Officers located a 19-year-old male victim, who had been shot in the neck," said Chief Deputy Todd Delain.
Investigators described his condition as "stable" on Tuesday morning. They say the suspect, 17-year-old Adolfo Gonzalez, left the scene.
Delain says Gonzalez, was later found at a home on Day Street in Green Bay, where he was taken into custody.
"Passing information on to the Green Bay Police Department, and they were able to locate the vehicle associated with the incident."
Delain says while investigators don't have all the details yet, they believe the two teens were fighting over a girl.
"We believe that this incident was related to a relationship dispute, over the same girl."
As for Peterson, she says she is just grateful officers acted quickly.
"It was nice that it was an isolated incident, and they had it under control really quick," she said.
No formal charges have been filed in the case, but deputies say Gonzalez is expected in court Wednesday.
