Minocqua man charged in 1982 death of wife
MINOCQUA (AP) -- A Minocqua man has been arrested in his wife's death nearly 36 years ago.
Thirty-two-year-old Barbara Mendez was found bludgeoned to death at the Park City Credit Union in Minocqua on April 28, 1982. The Oneida County Sheriff's Department and Minocqua police say they've re-interviewed every witness they could find.
They arrested 69-year-old Robin Mendez on Monday.
Oneida County District Attorney Michael Schiek says the evidence that has now been brought to his office supports the arrest of Mendez. He was formally charged with one count of first-degree murder in court Tuesday. Oneida County jailers say no attorney is listed for Mendez on their roster.
