Driver charged in deadly Brown Co. crash
SUAMICO, Wis. (WLUK) -- A young woman is dead and another woman is charged after a crash in Suamico.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Lakeview Drive near Norfield Road.
The driver, 20-year-old Savannah Dumas of Green Bay, is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and causing injury while operating under the influence. Officials say Dumas missed a curve, landed in a ditch and then overturned.
There were two passengers inside the car.
Megan Frehse, 21, of Green Bay, died at the scene. The other passenger, a 23-year-old woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
According criminal complaint, Dumas admitted to police that she had been drinking in a bar. The complaint goes on to say her blood alcohol level was .123 percent, which is higher than the legal limit to drive, .08.
Dumas is also under the legal drinking age.
Police say they found another woman's license in Dumas' wallet who they say looked similar to Dumas.
If convicted on both counts, Dumas could face 25 years in prison.
She is expected back in court Tuesday.
