Allergy-friendly recipe: Vanilla Rice Milk Ice Cream Sandwiches
ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) -- It’s Food Allergy Awareness Week.
Food allergy is a serious medical condition affecting up to 15 million people in the United States, including one and 13 children – that’s according Food Allergy Research and Education – known as FARE.
A mother-daughter-duo from Northeast Wisconsin is working to raise awareness about the issue.
Kara Schneider and her daughter Adel joined FOX 11's Emily Deem on Good Day Wisconsin to talk more about food allergies, and to share a food allergy-friendly recipe.
Food Allergy Awareness Week runs until Saturday, May 20th.
Kara and Adel also shared an allergy-friendly recipe that will be perfect for summer.
Ice Cream Sandwiches
Makes 1 serving
INGREDIENTS:
2 Enjoy Life Foods Double Chocolate Crunchy Cookies
1 scoop vanilla rice milk ice cream
Handful of Enjoy Life Foods Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Chips
DIRECTIONS:
Take two Enjoy Life Foods Double Chocolate Crunchy Cookies and spread 1 scoop of vanilla rice milk ice cream onto one side of a cookie.
Sandwich the other cookie on top.
Sprinkle Mini Chips on sides of sandwich.
