Turning dresses into dreams.  The YWCA of Green Bay and De Pere is helping to get deserving girls to prom.

YWCA CEO Kathy Hinkfuss and Women's Closet coordinator Dana Letizia joined us on Good Day Wisconsin to tell us how the program works.

Three students who are part of the YWCA's new Young Women's Group helped out by modeling some of the donated dresses.

Letizia says the average price for prom is $700. Several places in the Green Bay area have donated dresses. For a chance to earn one, the YWCA is asking students to write a 500 word essay addressing "empowerment" in young women.

The essays can be sent to and are due by February 15th.

The dresses will be given out Saturday February 22nd at the YWCA at 230 S. Madison Street in Green Bay.
