WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - A registered sex offender already facing incest charges in Wisconsin is now accused of holding a Michigan woman hostage for two days and repeatedly sexually assaulting her while two children played in the next room.
The 40-year-old man was charged Thursday with child abuse and nine counts of second-degree sexual assault, the Daily Herald Media reported.
A 40-year-old woman from Royal Oak, Mich., told investigators she met the man on an Internet gaming site. She says he told her he was looking for friends after his wife died, and she agreed to travel to Athens, Wis., on Valentine's Day to meet him.
He took her purse and cellphone to prevent her from leaving, and repeatedly sexually assaulted her over a two-day period, she told detectives. She said the assaults occurred while two kids were in the next room.
The woman was finally able to sneak into the man's office, find her purse and flee, she said.
The man is also accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female relative while she stayed in his home for several days earlier in February. He's been jailed since he was arrested Feb. 27 on charges of incest of a child.
The Associated Press isn't naming the man to avoid identifying the girl.
At an initial appearance on the new charges Thursday a judge ordered the man held on a $25,000 cash bond.
