MILWAUKEE (AP) - Investigators say a 2-month-old Milwaukee girl died while in an unsafe sleep environment.

The mother of Brooklynn Harris found the baby face down and unresponsive in an adult bed Monday morning.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says Brooklynn's mother told investigators she slept in the same bed with Brooklynn on Sunday night, placing her on a pillow. She woke up around midnight when a friend came over, and then fell asleep on the couch in the living room.

Later the mother woke up to the baby crying and took her to the couch, where they both fell asleep. In the morning, the mother put Brooklynn back in the adult bed and later found the girl face down.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports an autopsy found no trauma.
