California Chrome is a favorite to win the Kentucky Derby this Saturday. But when the horse arrived at Churchill Downs, his name was misspelled. The horse's saddle cloth said "Califorina Chrome".
"These types of things can happen all the time. They're innocent mistakes," said Darren Rogers, a spokesperson for the race track.
The horse's trainer Art Sherman seems to be taking the mistake in stride. "You know that might be an idea. We'll put it on ebay and see what we can get," joked Sherman.
Churchill Downs has ordered a new saddle cloth. Track officials have not said who is responsible for the typo or how many people checked the cloth before it got to the horse.
