Stoughton Trailers president Robert Wahlin says the order should keep the production line running for at least the rest of the year. Workers from the company's other plants in Brodhead and Stoughton will be shifted to Evansville and the manufacturer plans to begin advertising for new hires soon.
Wahlin says the company has survived the recession and competition from China by staying lean. The Janesville Gazette says the company's workforce declined from 1,600 in 1999 to 250 in 2009. By 2013, staffing climbed back to more than 1,000.
