GREEN BAY - Southwest High School broke ground Wednesday on a new athletic field.
The roughly $800,000 project will include a synthetic field.
Money is still needed, but most of it is coming from donors and sponsors.
Southwest's Athletic Booster Club president says this field has been in the works for three years.
"It's something we've needed for quite a few years and we're really excited to have the opportunity to get this project under its way and hopefully in three months we'll be playing on some nice turf,” said Mark Champion.
Organizers say they hope to have the field ready for the school's first football game on August 21.
