Sheriff: Fake 911 call led to evacuation

CRIVITZ - A boy was arrested after sheriff's officials say his 911 call prompted the evacuation of a community center.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, the dispatch center received a 911 call that there was an armed person at the Crivitz Community Center. The caller also claimed people were screaming and needed help.

Crivitz police and Marinette County sheriff's deputies went to the center and found that no one was armed and there was no threat.

Around 50 people were evacuated during the scare and the center was closed for the rest of the night.

An investigation traced the call to a boy whose age was not released. Officials confirmed that the information was false, and say there is no threat to the community. Investigators have forwarded the case to the disrtict attorney's office and social services for possible formal charges.
