Pooches and Pages pairs young readers with therapy dogs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kYVBhfvSTAAPPLETON - A program at the Appleton Public Library is making a difference for children in our area.It's helping kids, grades 1-5, improve their reading skills with the help of a friendly, and furry audience.Pooches & Pages pairs young readers with therapy dogs.The reading buddies sit down and read a story together.Organizers say it helps the children gain confidence in their skills.Especially if they are self-conscious about reading to their friends or family."Dogs don't tend to judge us on our reading skills and our abilities, and they tend to be kind of a calming and relaxing factor for kids as well," said Diane Wizner.Pooches & Pages is offered at the library on select Saturdays, by registration only.The next one is scheduled for March 1.
