GREEN BAY - Cold weather is partly to blame for putting a downtown Green Bay development project behind schedule. The Platten Building is located at the corner of N. Broadway and Dousman St.The top two floors of the old boarding house are being renovated into 23 apartments.
Cold weather and frozen ground pushed the installation of an elevator system behind. But the management company says work is moving along."Cabinetry is in. Appliances are almost here. The floor is ready to be stained. Really, it's a lot of trim work and it's tedious trim work because of the historic wood," said Jason Tschantz with Advisor Management. The roughly 100-year-old building's renovation is helped by about $400,000 from the city.Tschantz is waiting to hear how much the project will receive in historic tax credits from the state.Work is expected to be finished by the summer.
