Packers donate trees to Brown County communities

PITTSFIELD - Hundreds of trees are being planted around Brown County thanks to the Packers' success on the field.More than 720 trees were donated to various communities through the First Down for Trees program. The cooperative effort involves the Packers, the DNR, U.S. Forestry Service and Wisconsin Public Service.Trees are donated based on the number of first downs tallied last season by the Packers. Some corporate sponsors have also jumped on board, which helps communities like Hobart."Most of the trees will be going into one of our subdivisions named Indian Trail in the roundabout and cul de sac islands that we removed earlier because of overgrowth," said Logan Johnson, Village of Hobart Public Works Department.More than 18 communities will share the trees that have been donated.
