Sheriff's officials say Paul Hudson, 42, was reported missing in October. Family members said he had not been seen since July, but it was not unusual to go for long periods of time without hearing from him. However, by the fall, his absence did concern relatives and friends.
Sheriff's officials say they searched Hudson's most probable destinations for several months, but came up empty. Authorities also investigated unconfirmed reports of sightings, but these also did not lead to Hudson.
Then, around 3 p.m. Sunday, a body was pulled from a pond near Shawano Lake in the town of Wescott. An initial analysis indicates the body is that of Hudson, sheriff's officials say. An autopsy was planned for Monday.
The death does not initially appear to be suspicious, investigators say.
