MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Milwaukee Art Museum plans to renovate two buildings and expand 17,000 square feet. The $25 million project will fix a leaky roof, mold issues, broken concrete, leaking windows and foundation problems on two buildings that house the museum's permanent collection. One of the buildings also houses the Milwaukee County War Memorial. The project also calls for a 17,000 foot addition and a new lakeside entrance. The museum says the addition will allow more of its 30,000 works of art to be on view. The county, which owns two buildings, is providing $10 million for the project. The museum is raising $15 million. The project won't affect a third building designed by Santiago Calatrava, which opened in 2001.The yearlong construction is expected to start in the fall.
