Donald L. Tappa, 39, faces 10 total counts, including arson, burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.

Officials say their initial investigation at the Log Jam Saloon showed signs of burglary and that the fire was set on purpose. Police say an officer saw Tappa sitting in a vehicle across the street from the bar just before the fire was reported.

Tappa has been in jail since Jan. 8 on a probation violation.

Prosecutors say someone had broke into a safe, jukebox and ATM at the bar. Two witnesses told police they saw Tappa with large amounts of $20 bills the next day.

Police later found prying tools and a reciprocating saw in Tappa's apartment and a garage he had access to. They also found a backpack that smelled of smoke, according to the criminal complaint.
