Kimberly's Frankie Wurtz has developed into one of the area's best girls high school basketball players and she will continue to play her basketball in the area when she goes to college.Sunday, Wurtz gave a verbal commitment to Green Bay, as one her Twitter feed, she wrote, "Soooo beyond excited to say that I've chosen to accept a full scholarship from Green Bay to continue playing basketball! #GOPHOENIX"Wurtz is the two-time reigning Fox Valley Association player of the year and averaged 15.6 points per game last season while drawing second-team all-state honors. Wurtz, who will be a senior this coming season, led the Papermakers to a Division 1 state tournament semifinal appearance last season as Kimberly authored a 26-1 record.Wurtz becomes the third local player to commit to Green Bay in the last 12 months. This coming season, Notre Dame's Allie LeClaire and Oconto's Laken James will join the Phoenix program. All three are point guards but also have the offensive game to play shooting guard.Wurtz, who has more than 1,000 points in her career, also had offers from Northern Illinois, Penn, Bradley, Butler, Bowling Green, Marist, South Dakota State, and Winona State (Division II).Scouting report on Wurtz: The 5-8 guard has 3-point range and beyond, but is also quick off the dribble and can get to the basket.
