Intoxicated man arrested for firing at officers

MENOMINEE, MICH. – Menominee County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an intoxicated man firing a gun at officers.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Saturday. The man, 55-year-old Dave Patrick Thompson of Menominee Township fired shots at officers who responded to a call.

Officers surrounded the house where Thompson was. A sheriff’s department investigator spoke with Thompson over the phone and convinced him to surrender. After Thompson’s arrest, deputies executed a search warrant and found several firearms and large amounts of ammunition.

At 8:50 pm CST on July 26th, 2014, Menominee County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a residence in Menominee Township for an intoxicated man firing a gun. Upon arrival officers reported being fired at. Officers set up a perimeter. A Sheriff's Department Investigator established phone contact with the suspect. The investigator successfully negotiated the man's surrender. Following the arrest deputies obtained a search warrant for the man's residence. While executing that warrant deputies seized numerous firearms and a large amount of ammunition.

Thompson appeared in court Monday under charges of intoxicated use of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and domestic violence.
