GRAND CHUTE - Truck drivers from around the country may soon be able to benefit from a newly beefed up program at Fox Valley Technical College.
Part of a $66 million referendum project at the college is now complete. It's the J.J. Keller Transportation Center.
The college added classroom and additional service areas.
Officials say the goal is to put more diesel and automotive technicians in the field. They say demand for the mechanics has never been higher
“There is a tremendous need out there for diesel and auto technicians. The diesel technicians for that program got 347 job offers last year for 72 students,” said Dan Poeschel, FVTC associate dean of transportation.
This is the third of five projects spawned from the 2012 referendum.
