GRAND CHUTE - Weather permitting the Timber Rattlers season begins next week, but, this off-season, their stadium has been busy throughout.

Last spring the team unveiled its new stadium with $6 million worth of renovations.  Part of that being a new banquet facility.

So was the new addition worth it?  We followed up to find out.

Being from Greenville, Deb Forslund usually goes out in downtown Appleton.  Friday she stayed a bit closer to home at the Timber Rattlers banquet hall in Grand Chute.

"I've never been here before, so I wasn't really even aware they had this place," said Forslund.

Banquet facilities manager Jenny Smith told FOX 11 advertising has been one difficulty to overcome in this first year.

"Opening a brand-new venue, there's gonna be some hiccups along the way," said Smith.

Smith told us there were other bumps in the road.

"With our orders coming in on time, right before the venue opened and we had some challenges in our first week with the AV equipment we had.  The biggest challenge is to blend the two businesses," Smith explained.

Despite the challenges, Smith told us it's been a success.  The banquet hall booked about 200 events so far, about 60 of those being weddings.

"It's been wonderful.  We've been very blessed by the outpouring of community support so far," she said.

The Timber Rattlers hoped to bring in about 350,000 additional dollars during the off-season.  According to says they've exceeded that.

"It's very important that we've been able to stay open year-round.  It's an additional revenue stream," she explained.

Smith told us it's beneficial to have this spot in Grand Chute too.

"West of us there's really not another banquet venue, but also, it's just another entertainment source," she said.

Something Forslund appreciates having close to home.

"It's nice.  We're looking forward to the performance and having a good evening with great friends."
The banquet manager says they're already booking for next year.
