NORTHEAST WISCONSIN - It was an "eggcellent" way to spend part of Easter weekend for thousands of kids Saturday.
The NEW Zoo in Suamico kicked off its annual EggstravaganZoo event with breakfast.
Kids could then spend hours scouring the zoo for Easter eggs in exchange for candy and prizes.
It takes more than one hundred volunteers to put the event, but they say it's worth it.
"Seeing families together, and seeing families together that aren't tied to text phones, and iPads, and just seeing kids running around and having a good time and parents interacting with the children, that's the key," said volunteer, Chris Leutner.
The Easter bunny was also there to help hide the eggs and take pictures with the kids.
Meanwhile, Pathways Church in Appleton hosted the area's largest indoor egg hunt.
Children scrambled to pick up as many of the more than 30 thousand Easter eggs that were hidden.
Each was filled with candy!
But the fun didn't end indoors. There were also inflatables and other activities outside.
