GREEN BAY - Four people suspected of mistreating dairy cows at a Greenleaf farm remain free, now on signature bonds.Abelardo Jaimes and Crescencio Pineda - both of Menasha - and Misael Monge-Minero of Green Bay appeared in person in Brown County court Tuesday morning for their initial appearances. Lucia Martinez of Wrightstown was represented by her attorney. The four face intentional mistreatment of animals charges, all misdemeanors, that stem from a secretly recorded video taken by an animal rights group late last year. The hidden camera video shows employees at the Wiese Brothers Farm dragging, poking and lifting the cows high above the ground. The fallout from the video had serious repercussions for the 5,000-cow family farm.Wiese farms used to supply its milk to a Baraboo-based cooperative, which supplied dairy products to Nestle. When the video surfaced in early December, the farm was dropped at Nestle's request.Calls for comment from the Wiese family about the charges have not been returned.Jaimes, 31, and Monge-Minero, 33, entered not-guilty pleas and have trial dates set. Martinez, 39, and Pineda, 26, have hearings set for later this month.
