GREEN BAY - As runners take off for the 118th Boston Marathon today, local runners and walkers will do the same to show support and solidarity in light of the bombing tragedy at last year's race.

The event, called the Run as One Boston Marathon Tribute Run, will take place at noon on the CityDeck in downtown Green Bay. It's free to the public.

People can chose to run or walk a 1, 2 or 3-mile course along the Fox River Trail.

Organizers say the event hopes to honor those killed or injured in the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy and to celebrate the actions and strength of the Boston community and across the nation.

Participants are encouraged to wear blue and yellow, the colors affiliated with the Boston Marathon.
