LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The winner of the 140th Kentucky Derby is pre-race favorite California Chrome with Commanding Curve and Danza third. The unofficial winning time was 2:03.66. Chrome was the winner of the Santa Anita Derby earlier in the racing season.
The field for the race was 19 after the withdrawal on Friday of Pablo Del Monte.
The second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness, will be May 17 in Baltimore at Pimlico.
The "Run for the Roses" took place in perfect conditions.
