BRANDON - An apparent murder-suicide sent shockwaves through a small community in Fond du Lac County.
As we first reported Wednesday night two men are dead. A woman who was in the home at the time is the one who called police.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday in a mobile home on Bowen St. in Brandon, about 20 miles west of Fond du Lac.
The Bowen St. neighborhood was quiet Thursday. A far different scene than the one Wednesday night with police cars and crime scene tape surrounding the home.
"It's surprising, it makes your heart go out to the families and just praying for the people involved," said resident Arica Leonard.
Police told FOX 11 a Brandon woman rents the home where the shooting took place. She was in the home with 55-year-old Bradley Thayer when 56-year-old Ronald Kolosky came in. Moments later, police say Kolosky shot and killed Thayer before killing himself. Authorities are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting but, Brandon Police Chief Tom Dornbrook told us there may have been an argument over the woman.
"There was a perception by one of the men that he had a relationship with the woman, but I don't know if that is true or not," explained Dornbrook.
Authorities are not releasing the woman's name but say she is not married to either of the two men.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation and did not return our calls for comment.
The woman who was in the home at the time of the shooting works at this convenience store in town and while employees did not want to talk about her, those who did know her say she always has a smile.
"She's just totally awesome, super nice, super nice, I grew up with her daughter and she is just a great, great woman and I have been praying for her all day," said Leonard.
The shooting took place across the street from the elementary school, but Dornbrook said students had already gone home for the day and school was held as normal Thursday.
Relatives of Thayer, the man who was shot, told FOX 11 they are in shock and don't know yet what happened.
