LA CROSSE Algoma's Kennedy Blahnik accomplished something Saturday few ever have after four years of competing at the state track and field meet, she left undefeated.Blahnik captured her fourth straight Division 3 discus title a day after winning her fourth straight shot put title. She completed her career 8-0 at the state meet."I don't think there's words to describe it," Blahnik said. "It still hasn't hit me. I'm excited that it's happened, kind of bummed that it's done. I would give anything to get these four years back."Her competitors who return next year don't share that sentiment. The last four years Blahnik has dominated the field, never coming close to losing an event. Saturday, she went out in style breaking her state record of 154 feet, 3 inches in the discus with a throw of 161-5."I didn't expect it to get it on my first throw," she said. "I told my dad (who coaches Blahnik) I wanted to come out easy. I definitely wanted that record."The day started slow for Blahnik as the meet was delayed by five and a half hours. But as she proved in her first throw the delay only delayed the inevitable."(Five and a half) hours is a long time," she said of the delay. "I took a nap. Ultimately I don't think the delay affected me."Umm, no, it didn't. Blahnik went out in style, just like she always does."It means everything," Blahnik said. "The last four years, all the work I put in, it definitely paid off. I don''t regret having to miss out on things to go lift. I'm so happy right now."Blahnik moves on to compete at Wisconsin next year, but she promises to return to the state meet next season. She admits it will be different as a spectator."That will be a weird feeling," she said. "There's nothing like the state track meet."And the last four years, there has been nothing like Kennedy Blahnik.Follow Doug Ritchay on Twitter @dougritchay
