OSHKOSH - People gathered in Oshkosh Saturday to learn all about our feathered friends.

It's part of the fourth annual Bird Fest at Menominee Park.

Saturday also marked International Migratory Bird Day.

Participants could take part in various demonstrations, bird walks and get an up-close look at some of the birds.

Organizers say birds are important for our environment.

"They're great rodent control, pest control, insect control, so they're a benefit to us and we need to, they could use our help," said Janet Wissink.

Those at the Bird Fest could also take part in what is called a big sit.

It's a 17-foot diameter circle where people could bird watch and count as many birds as possible.
