CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. - A 26-year-old Berlin man was killed in an avalanche in Colorado Monday.
Joshua Lesniak was snowmobiling in the Gunnison National Forest near Crested Butte, Colorado.
Two other area men, Ian McCullough, 28, of Omro and Andrew Busse, 34, of Berlin were also involved.
McCullough was initially trapped by the 600' wide slide, but was able to dig his way out.
McCullough and Busse, along with other bystanders, were able to identify Lesniak's location using avalanche beacons and probes. His body was buried an estimated 15 to 20 feet below the slide surface. Once uncovered, CPR was performed on Lesniak, but a pulse wasn't located.
