The Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce board of directors on Friday elected Dan Ariens as chairman of the 3,500-member organization.
Ariens says in a statement that he wanted to focus on workforce development and ways to improve Wisconsin's business climate. He says finding ways to match the unemployed with unfilled jobs is a priority.
Ariens also serves as vice chairman of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. That is the state's job creation agency that reports to Gov. Scott Walker.
Ariens' company was founded by his great-grandfather 80 years ago and manufactures snow blowers, lawn mower and other products.
