APPLETON - PCBs were used to create things like carbonless paper.
The first company to manufacture the product was Appleton Paper 60 years ago.
Wednesday, Appvion, which was formerly Appleton Paper, marked 60 years making the product.
Carbonless paper has come a long ways. PCBs were phased out in 19-71.
Today carbonless paper is used worldwide and one of Appvion's most popular products.
"We had the coating technology and we worked with NCR to coat those microcapsules on the back of a paper so it would work and you could write on it and an image would form without using carbon paper,” said Bill Van Den Brandt, Appvion corporate communication.
Appvion has also created digital carbonless paper for everything from medical forms to purchase orders.
