The Outagamie County Board approved the name change Tuesday night.
The airport is also trying to get the international title attached. However, that decision is up to the federal government.
Supporters believe the name change will boost business in and around the airport. A nearly year long study by a county committee showed changing the name of the airport would have impacts beyond air travel. According to the report up to 80 percent of travel through the airport is for business.
The changeover could cost up to $200,000, but won't involve any taxpayer dollars.
