Two NFL players with area ties were let go by their NFL teams on Friday. De Pere High School alum Drew Nowak was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday while rookie tight end Menominee, Michigan native Jacob Pedersen was let go by the Atlanta Falcons.
Nowak played in two games during his Jaguars career, originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the team out of Western Michigan in 2012.
Pedersen had 17 career touchdown catches at Wisconsin, the most ever for a Badgers tight end. He played quarterback for Menominee in high school.
