GREEN BAY – Several Green Bay schools have received federal funding for after-school programs.
District leaders say Eisenhower and Fort Howard elementary schools will receive $50,000 per year for the next five years through 21st Century Community Learning Center (CLC) grants.
Eisenhower partners with the YMCA to provide services and Fort Howard works with the Boys & Girls Club. Programs are aligned with school activities and students can participate in academic enrichment and recreational activities.
CLC sites at Howe, Danz, Sullivan, Jefferson and Keller schools are also set to receive $50,000 for the 2014-15 school year.
The state Department of Public Instruction awarded the funding as part of a statewide competition. The grant went to programs that serve schools where at least 40% of the students are at or below the poverty level and where a high percentage of students are struggling academically.
