MADISON (AP) – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke is the latest Wisconsin politician to take the “ice bucket challenge.”

That’s where people dowse themselves with freezing water to help raise awareness of Lou Gehrig’s disease.

She notes in a video posted on her Twitter account Saturday that since she didn’t accept the challenge within 24 hours she donated to the ALS Foundation.

Campaign spokesman Joe Zepecki said she donated $100. She challenged two radio talk show hosts and a television talk show host.

Republicans Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ron Johnson also posted videos doing the challenge Friday.

The ice bucket challenge phenomenon was launched to raise money to fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The foundation reports raising more than $11 million since July 29 because of challenges.
