GREEN BAY – Green Bay’s west shore will continue to be monitored and managed to protect the wildlife and natural areas.

The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board approved the preservation plan at the meeting in Hayward on Wednesday.

The master plan covers 12 DNR properties along the west shore of Green Bay from Peshtigo south to Green Bay to Marinette, Oconto and Brown counties.

The plan also includes improvements to a shooting range, and opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing and fishing sites.

The west shore of Green Bay contains about 50 percent of all coastal wetlands remaining of the shore of Lake Michigan.
