MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former Trek Bicycles executive Mary Burke says nothing will change in her campaign for governor even though she is now officially the Democratic Party’s nominee.
Burke easily defeated state Rep. Brett Hulsey in the Democratic primary Tuesday.
Burke now will officially face Republican Gov. Scott Walker in the Nov. 4 general election.
Burke tells The Associated Press in a phone interview from Rhinelander where she is campaigning that her game plan remains the same. She says she’s making sure the people get to know her and what her plans will be as governor.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, says that Walker has been a “transformative leader for Wisconsin and the state is better for it.”
Christie is expected to campaign in Wisconsin soon.
