Road closures expected for Milwaukee triathlon

MILWAUKEE (AP) – The Milwaukee County sheriff’s office says deputies plan to close off roads near downtown Milwaukee and others in southern Milwaukee suburbs for the USA Triathlon National Championships.

The 2014 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships will be held Saturday and Sunday on the shores of Lake Michigan at the Milwaukee Art Museum and Discovery World.

According to the sheriff’s department, the Hoan Bridge will be closed starting at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The other closed roads include Lincoln Memorial Drive in downtown Milwaukee and South Lake Drive in Cudahy and St. Francis. They will be closed started at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Deputies hope to have the roads reopen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
