MILWAUKEE (AP) – More than 5,700 athletes will be in Milwaukee this weekend for a triathlon.
The 2014 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships will be held Saturday and Sunday on the shores of Lake Michigan at the Milwaukee Art Museum and Discovery World.
The Olympic-Distance National Championships will be held Saturday and consists of a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run course.
The Sprint National Championships will be Sunday and is comprised of a 750m swim, a 20k bike and a 5k run.
Athletes will be racing for spots on the 2015 ITU World Championships team. Nearly 500 people are registered to compete both days.
The 5,700 registered athletes is a record for the event. Four-time Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington is expected to be in attendance at the races.
