ALLOUEZ – Heritage Hill in Allouez brought visitors back in time this weekend.
The historical park put on a World War One and World War Two re-enactment. The area was transformed to look and feel like a camp preparing to go to war.
Visitors learned about the background on the great wars. They watched training close up, when soldiers were learning battle techniques.
The re-enactors say this type of event is one that everyone should experience.
“It’s the experience of seeing what it was like for them, plus, I also think that their sacrifices and suffering needs to be remembered as well,” said David Zajicek, unit commander for the re-enactment.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I.
