NEW LONDON – You’ve heard of the Tour de France, but what about the Tour des Trees?
85 cyclists are riding in a 585 mile cycling adventure to raise awareness about trees.
They started Sunday in downtown Milwaukee and Wednesday they pedaled into New London.
Whenever and wherever they stop, they not only talk about the importance of trees, they even plant a few.
After New London, they were off to Green Bay. Then Sturgeon Bay before the lakeside journey back to Milwaukee where the tour ends Saturday.
This is billed as North America’s largest fundraiser for tree research.
Since 1992 the cyclists have raised more than $6 million dollars for tree research and education.
