SUAMICO – People got the chance to explore the creatures of our ponds Sunday in Suamico.
The Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve held a Pond Exploration Day.
Participants created their own mini habitats in buckets with critters they caught.
They had some help though. Naturalists worked with them to catch and identify what they found.
One of the preserve’s naturalists says it was a great hands-on experience for kids.
“It’s a lot of fun for the kids to explore the pond, check out the habitat, and see all the little, even the tinest of critters, that call this pond home,” said naturalist Jena Winter.
Along with learning about pond habitats, participants were encouraged to get a little wet and muddy.
