DE PERE — For the first time in program history, the St. Norbert College men’s hockey team will get to measure up against the premiere program in the state. According to Green Knights head coach Tim Coghlin, SNC will face the Badgers in a scrimmage this October.
Coghlin says the game will take place October 25th AT LaBahn Arena in Madison, which is where the Badgers women’s hockey team normally plays. Coghlin says the game will count against St. Norbert’s NCAA limit of 25 games in a season. The game will replace the Green Knights’ intrasquad scrimmage.
“This was too good of [an] opportunity to pass up,” said Coghlin in a text message to FOX 11, noting it has never happened before.
According to Madison.com, the Badgers men’s hockey team will have their annual Red and White scrimmage at Cornerstone Ice Center in De Pere on October 4th. That game will raise money for youth hockey in the area.
Coghlin says he can’t wait for a chance to play the Badgers, though his team will be at a slight disadvantage: Wisconsin will already be several games into their season when the teams meet, while St. Norbert will only have a few practices under their belt.
