FOND DU LAC – Thanks to some nearby construction workers, a fire at a Fond du Lac commercial building was quickly put out.

On Friday at 11:25 a.m., the Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to 1674 Fox Ridge Drive.

Before the fire department arrived, construction workers saw the fire from down the road and rushed over to the building to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental. The painting contractor had cardboard and painting supplies stored under the exterior steps which caught fire and extended up the side of the building.

No one was injured and the amount of damage is being investigated.
