Alligator found in Sheboygan is welcomed by Chicago

SHEBOYGAN – The alligator that was found near the Sheboygan River has found a new home at the Chicago Herpetological
Society.

The Sheboygan police responded to alligator sighting reports on July 20.

After capturing the exotic animal, it was turned over to the DNR.

Officials believe the alligator was abandoned by a pet owner.

Wisconsin law regulates the introduction, stocking and release of wild animals and violators can face a fine of $539.50 for the illegal release of a wild animal.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the DNR at 1-800-TIP-WDNR.
