RACINE (AP) – One person was killed and two others were injured in separate skydiving accidents in southern Wisconsin.
Racine County sheriff’s officials say a 44-year-old Racine man died Sunday afternoon after his parachute apparently got tangled with the chute of another skydiver in the air over Sylvania Airport in the Town of York.
Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Sikora tells The Journal Times the man who died plunged to the pavement and the other skydiver fell into some trees.
In the other incident, a female skydiver was injured Sunday when she missed her landing target at the Fort Atkinson Municipal Airport in Jefferson County. Authorities say the woman landed in a cornfield about a mile away. She was taken by air to University Hospital in Madison.
