Run down the runway at Austin Straubel

GREEN BAY – Normally planes take off on a runway, but coming this fall, you’ll be able to run on the runway.

It’s all part of the first Prevea 5K GRB Run/Walk.

The event will take place September 13th at Austin Straubel International Airport.

The course will start on one of the airport’s two main runways, which will be closed during the event.

Participants would also use a perimeter road and finish by going through a gauntlet of parked planes.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Sean Ryan, the race director, says, “I knew that this event had the opportunity to be a huge homerun, not just for the Wounded Warrior Project but also for the community and the timing of having it on a fall weekend on the eve of our Packers home opener makes it a homerun by any stretch.”

The cost of the race is $25 for adults and $15 for kids.

Runners will receive a t-shirt, runners’ wings and medals for different age groups.
