GREEN BAY – Food, family and fun were celebrated in downtown Green Bay Saturday with the help of a little BBQ.
The Gold Ribbin’ BBQ Fest was held at Leicht Memorial Park.
People could sample barbeque prepared by anyone from professional chefs to amateurs.
All of the proceeds went to Green Bay’s Golden House.
Golden House is a shelter that helps people dealing with domestic abuse.
Those with the shelter say the city needed an event with a little barbeque flavor.
“There are no other Kansas City BBQ-based events in Green Bay. We don’t really know of any other BBQ events in Green Bay. Everyone loves it, so we figured we’d try it out, and so far it has been a success,” said Koren Bandoch, a Golden House representative.
The event wasn’t just about BBQ. People could also sample local wine and beer.
Live and silent auctions were also held to help raise money.
